Apple of Peru
Nicandra physalodes
An abundant plant for its size and productivity. It’s very frost sensitive but as soon as the daylight lengthens and warms it will become quite substantial at over 36” tall with multiple branches as you continue to harvest will into fall.
Reminiscent of a tomatillo plant with its lantern green seed pods. Periwinkle purple flowers peek out of pods but they don’t stick around long and foliage is best stripped of its larger leaves so the pods can really shine as a stand alone to the arrangement.
